- Mexico City activated the Operativo “Cero Pirotecnia” to deter the sale, storage and misuse of pyrotechnics during the Christmas–New Year period.
- Capital authorities set penalties for detonating fireworks, lighting bonfires or releasing aerostats without permits at 21–30 Unidades de Medida, 25–36 hours of arrest, or 12–18 hours of community service.
- Mexicali’s municipal police, through the Unidad Ecológica, are conducting patrols and responding to 9-1-1 reports to prevent pyrotechnics and open fires.
- In Mexicali, using or selling pyrotechnics can draw fines up to 45,000 pesos and possible arrests up to 36 hours, with unpermitted firewood sales also subject to sanctions.
- State authorities closed the Cohetería El Cachanilla over environmental irregularities, even as would-be buyers arrived to seek fireworks at the shuttered location.
