Mexico City Metro Extends Service on Five Lines to 1 a.m. for New Year’s Eve

The move aims to ease late-night travel for New Year’s festivities across the capital.

Overview

  • Service on Lines 1, 2, 3, 8 and 9 will run until 1:00 a.m. on January 1, 2026, according to the STC Metro.
  • The extended lines cover Observatorio–Pantitlán (1), Cuatro Caminos–Tasqueña (2), Indios Verdes–Universidad (3), Garibaldi–Constitución de 1917 (8) and Tacubaya–Pantitlán (9).
  • Director General Adrián Ruvalcaba announced the targeted extension on social media, specifying it applies only to these five routes.
  • Officials framed the adjustment as support for New Year’s events in the city, with coverage noting a large electronic concert at the Ángel de la Independencia.
  • The Metro will operate on a holiday schedule from 7:00 a.m. to midnight on Thursday, January 1.
