Mexico City Marathon: Early Metro at 5 a.m. and Transit Detours Set for Sunday

Officials finalized transit adjustments to ease race-day mobility.

Overview

  • About 30,000 runners tackle the 42.195 km course on Sunday from Estadio Olímpico Universitario to the Zócalo with staggered starts beginning around 5:45 a.m.
  • Metro Lines 1, 2, 3 and 9 open at 5:00 a.m. with free access for participants who show their bibs, while the rest of the network begins at 7:00 a.m.
  • Six free, electric shuttle routes for registered runners depart from multiple points starting around 3:30 a.m. to deliver athletes to the start area.
  • Metrobús operates partial circuits with key suspensions, including Line 1 limited to Indios Verdes–Plaza de la República and El Caminero–Corregidora (roughly 5:00–14:00), Line 2 curtailed until about 11:00, and Line 7 without service between Garibaldi and Campo Marte during the race window.
  • Road closures span Insurgentes, Reforma and central corridors, with SSC/C5 advising alternatives such as Anillo Periférico, División del Norte, Avenida Aztecas, Calzada Legaria, Marina Nacional and Circuito Interior and urging travelers to monitor official updates as streets reopen progressively in the afternoon.
