Mexico City Lawmakers Complete CDHCM Interviews, Move to Scoring Phase

Deputies are compiling scores to draft the ruling that will send one nominee to a two-thirds vote in the full Congress.

Overview

  • Eight shortlisted candidates were publicly interviewed Oct. 20–21 by the Human Rights Commission of the CDMX Congress with participation from the honorary citizen council.
  • After the hearings, the commission declared a permanent session to collect evaluation forms and prepare the designation opinion.
  • Each deputy will submit a scorecard, the highest‑scoring contender will be nominated to the plenary, and the appointment must clear a two‑thirds threshold.
  • A public platform to file opinions or letters of support remains open through Oct. 24 as part of the consultation.
  • From 28 applicants, eight met requirements such as at least ten years of experience and CDMX residency, and were questioned on priorities including tackling violence and disappearances, restorative justice, visitadurías, mobile brigades, internal reform, and labor rights.
