Mexico City Launches Security Tech Fair to Reinforce Anti-Theft Strategy

The Alameda Sur event offers discounted security technologies alongside self-protection advice and reporting modules to help sustain recent drops in vehicle theft.

Overview

  • The Feria Comercial por tu Seguridad opened on August 9 in Alameda Sur, Coyoacán, and runs daily from 11:00 to 18:00 for all residents.
  • More than a dozen private security companies are showcasing cameras, alarms and other preventive devices at preferential prices.
  • Officials from SSC-CdMx, the Fiscalía capitalina and the C5 have set up on-site modules to guide citizens on self-protection measures and crime reporting.
  • City data show a 10 percent reduction in vehicle and autoparts theft in July 2025 compared with July 2024 and over a 50 percent decline versus July 2019.
  • Under the current strategy, authorities have arrested more than 840 suspects, carried out about 140 raids and seized upwards of 3,500 tons of stolen autoparts with oversight from citizen commissions.
