Mexico City Launches OTOCH to Rehabilitate 1,200 Social-Housing Units With 600 Million Pesos

Overview

  • Jefa de Gobierno Clara Brugada unveiled OTOCH at the Infonavit Iztacalco complex, marking the first site to be intervened under the Territorios de Paz e Igualdad model.
  • This year’s allocation totals 600 million pesos, more than double 2024’s 250 million, to address over 1,200 developments across the capital.
  • Interventions are staged: 600 complexes receive major works such as painting, waterproofing and utility checks; 400 get minor maintenance; 200 focus on organization, workshops and community activities.
  • Cross-agency coordination assigns the Housing Secretariat and its Subsecretariat to lead, with roles for the digital, environment and water agencies on connectivity, waste and hydraulic diagnostics.
  • Security and digital measures include C5-linked cameras, protection plans and upgraded public Wi‑Fi service levels, with a forthcoming initiative to reform the Condominium Property Law.
