Mexico City Launches OTOCH to Rehabilitate 1,200 Social Housing Complexes in 2025

Overview

  • City funding totals 600 million pesos this year, more than doubling the 2024 allocation, to intervene 1,200 complexes with 600 major works, 400 minor works and 200 community programs.
  • Initial actions are underway at the Infonavit Iztacalco complex, including tree pruning, green‑area rehabilitation, new lighting, debris removal and verification of building installations, alongside network diagnostics.
  • Free public internet will be strengthened across housing sites as ADIP boosts capacity to about 200 Mbps per Wi‑Fi point and raises per‑user speeds from 5 to 20 Mbps.
  • The plan adds security measures such as Ojos que te Cuidan video cameras linked to the C5, plus lighting improvements and internal civil‑protection programs.
  • Program control moves to the Secretaría de Vivienda via its Subsecretaría de Unidades Habitacionales, with a forthcoming initiative to reform the condominium law to strengthen recovery of common areas and administration.
