Mexico City Launches 'Acciones por la Vida y la Justicia' With 15 Measures to Combat Gender Violence

Officials say the consolidated plan builds on the 2019 alert, with early declines in feminicides this year.

Overview

  • A new Policía de Género began patrols with 30 units and is slated to expand to 73 patrols staffed by 438 specialized officers by year-end.
  • The government announced a Defensoría de las Mujeres to provide free legal representation and accompaniment for victims throughout criminal proceedings.
