Mexico City Launches 2025 Day of the Dead Program With Tenochtitlán 700th Anniversary Theme

City officials project roughly 10% higher visitor spending than in 2024.

Overview

  • Authorities opened free registration for the Festival de Ofrendas y Catrinas through October 25, set installation for October 24–27 and public exhibition for October 28–November 3, and will recognize participants on November 3.
  • La Catrina Fest Mx is now underway at Aztlán Parque Urbano from October 7 to November 6 with parades, exhibitions, and artistic and gastronomic activities.
  • The Mega Procesión de Catrinas is slated for October 26 from 18:00 to 21:00, traveling from the Ángel de la Independencia to the Zócalo along Paseo de la Reforma.
  • UNAM’s Mega Ofrenda will run at the Centro Cultural Universitario from October 31 to November 2, 11:00–21:00, dedicated to migrations, exiles and the right to refuge with free admission.
  • Separately, Morelia announced more than 50 Día de Muertos activities and set its Catrinas and Catrines Parade for November 1, including five free makeup stations for participants.
