Overview
- Drivers face the usual Thursday ban from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. for green-sticker vehicles with plate numbers ending in 1 and 2 that hold verification hologram 1 or 2.
- The program, which aims to cut car pollution by rotating who can drive, covers all 16 boroughs of Mexico City and designated State of Mexico municipalities.
- Authorities did not activate the Doble Hoy No Circula tier of stricter limits, which returned to normal use after the ozone alert ended on April 26.
- Exempt vehicles include those with 00 or 0 holograms, electric and hybrid cars, motorcycles, taxis, public transit and cargo trucks, plus health workers with an authorized pass.
- Traffic police can stop violators, send the vehicle to an impound lot and issue fines of 2,346 to 3,519 pesos under the city’s traffic rules.
