Overview
- Volunteers can join the free event at 8:00 a.m. on July 26 at the Canchas del Cerro Gachupines in Painal, Santa Isabel Tola in Gustavo A. Madero, a 20-minute trip from Metro Indios Verdes.
- Attendees are advised to wear comfortable clothing, hats or sombreros, gloves and sturdy footwear and to bring water, snacks and bags for waste collection.
- Restoration activities include reforestation, tending previously planted areas, creating pollinator gardens, removing invasive vines and collecting solid waste.
- Interactive environmental education modules will introduce participants to concepts like “farmacias vivientes” to raise local ecological awareness.
- The initiative, led by Sedema’s DGSANPAVA, targets El Tepeyac, Sierra de Guadalupe and La Armella, which host 180 species including 18 under legal protection and eight Basin of Mexico endemics.
