Mexico City Finalizes 2025 Day of the Dead Program With Night Ride, Zócalo Mega Ofrenda and Major Parades

Confirmed schedules detail free, large-scale events alongside guidance for building meaningful ofrendas.

Overview

  • SEMOVI and the Muévete en Bici program set the Night Ride for October 25 from 19:00 to 23:00 on a 19 km route starting at the Ángel de la Independencia and running toward the Centro Histórico, with officials urging helmets, lights and early arrival.
  • The capital’s Monumental Ofrenda in the Zócalo will run October 25 to November 2 with free entry, organized by the city’s Culture Secretariat and based on the winning proposal from Colectivo Zion Art Studio selected by public vote.
  • A packed parade calendar includes the Alebrijes Parade on October 18 (Zócalo to Reforma, pieces on display until November 9), the Marcha Zombie on October 18, Catrina Fest at Aztlán Chapultepec on October 19, the Mega Procesión de Catrinas on October 26 (18:00–21:00, Ángel to Zócalo) and the Mega Desfile on November 1 (route confirmed, start time pending).
  • UNAM will host its free Mega Ofrenda at the Centro Cultural Universitario from October 31 to November 2, 11:00 to 21:00, with this year’s theme dedicated to migrations, exile, the right to refuge and displacement.
  • Coverage highlights core altar elements—water, salt, candles, copal, cempasúchil, pan de muerto, photos and calaveritas—while noting parallel commercial offerings such as themed dinners and an online dispute over minimalist “ofrendas aesthetic.”
