Mexico City Extends Daily Service as Permanent Driver’s License Deadline Nears

Expanded hours aim to ease the rush before the December 31 cutoff.

Overview

  • Authorities reaffirm applications are accepted through December 31, 2025, with many appointments booked as tesorerías express and service centers operate Monday–Sunday from 09:00 to 21:00.
  • A weekend macromodule at Ciudad Deportiva Magdalena Mixhuca provides service from 09:00 to 21:00 for applicants who can only attend on Saturday or Sunday.
  • The one-time cost is 1,500 pesos, after which only the 3‑year license will be available at about 1,099 pesos once the program ends.
  • Eligibility requires being 18 or older with no record of a prior CDMX permanent license, and non-residents may apply only in specific cases such as a registered domicile in the State of Mexico without a previous CDMX license.
  • The program covers private cars only and does not authorize motorcycle driving, which must be supported by previous permanent licenses, A1/A2 categories, or qualifying licenses from other states.
