Mexico City Deploys 14,998 Officers for Three Kings Day Security Through Jan. 6

  • The city’s police agency activated the “Día de Reyes 2026” operation on Jan. 3 to safeguard residents and visitors during holiday activities.
  • Support assets include 929 patrol vehicles, 35 motorbikes, 10 tow trucks, 15 ambulances, 12 ERUM motoambulances, two rescue units, and a Cóndores helicopter for aerial oversight.
  • Patrols are concentrated at banks, shopping centers, restaurant zones, parks, hotels, and tourist areas such as the Zócalo, Coyoacán, Xochimilco, and Reforma.
  • Transit security covers 183 STC Metro stations, 45 CETRAM hubs, and all nine Metrobús lines, with the Traffic Subsecretariat managing mobility and enforcing local regulations.
  • C2 and C5 operators are maintaining continuous surveillance through more than 15,000 city cameras, while authorities urge electronic payments, discreet cash handling, ATM checks, and use of the Mi Policía app for rapid assistance.
