Mexico City Approves 1.50-Peso Fare Hike for Route and Corridor Transport

Officials tied the increase to compliance commitments following late-night talks with transport leaders.

  • New distance-based fares set 7.50 pesos for the first 5 km in microbuses and vans, 8 pesos up to 12 km, and 9 pesos beyond, with buses at 8.50 and 9 pesos and corridor trips at 9.50 pesos.
  • Operators must display the authorized fare permanently in vehicles, terminals and bases or the update will not be valid.
  • Concessionaires agreed to safety and service conditions including visible Type C licenses, no tinted windows, liability insurance, plate numbers on livery, periodic technical checks, operator uniforms and training, with La Jornada noting a 20% night surcharge from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m.
