Overview

• AICM ran a full-scale aviation security exercise inside the aerotrén to test its Emergency Plan using a hypothetical bomb threat.
• The drill took place outside public service hours and did not disrupt flights, passengers, or aerotrén service.
• SEMAR led the operation through UNAPAP with support from BLONAE, AFAC, SENEAM, and the airport’s medical, fire, security, and civil-protection teams.
• Designated observers evaluated emergency responses to identify follow-up actions and refine protocols.
• President Claudia Sheinbaum said AICM remodeling is 10% complete with readiness targeted for June 2026, announced a Conagua–SICT–Navy–city water task force to fix drainage, and asserted that moving cargo to AIFA has improved security and reduced drug inflows at AICM.
