Mexico City Adds 25 Fully Equipped ERUM Ambulances to Speed Emergency Response

Leased units mark the first step toward decentralizing free prehospital care to cut response times.

Overview

  • Mexico City delivered 25 new ambulances to ERUM on November 21 as the opening phase of a broader fleet renewal.
  • The acquisition is financed through a leasing scheme costing 98 million pesos annually.
  • The units meet official and international standards, carrying defibrillators, ventilators, suction devices, multiparameter monitors, obstetric kits and advanced airway equipment.
  • ERUM now has more than 700 specialists and has performed over 106,000 services in 2025, handling more than 70% of emergencies in the capital.
  • Officials outlined 2026 plans to decentralize deployments, add more ambulances and moto-ambulances, enable an air ambulance for Milpa Alta, and cut response times by 10–15 minutes through the C5-coordinated network with CRUM, the Red Cross and Civil Protection.
