Overview
- Authorities detained Nelson Arturo Echezuria Alcántara, 29, identified as the group’s leader and principal operator in Mexico, along with collaborators Lucas Alberto Vielma Rojas, 37, and Marcos Gabriel Ortega Sotillo, 36.
- All three, described as Venezuelan nationals, face arrest warrants for human trafficking and organized crime and are linked by officials to narcotics sales, homicide, kidnapping and extortion.
- Officers seized 92 packets of marijuana, 44 of crystal meth, 18 of crack, two cellphones and cash during the detention in Mexico City.
- The operation was carried out by SSPC, Sedena, Semar, FGR and the National Guard with Mexico City’s SSC and FGJ, and officials say Nelson is considered the intellectual and material author of several femicides with operations spanning Puebla, Morelos, Estado de México and multiple CDMX boroughs.
- In separate actions, SSC-led teams arrested Erasmo Carlos “N” in Iztapalapa and Williams “N” in Chalco—securing two long guns classified for military use—while the FGJEM detained Misael “N” (“El Chino”) over the September 30 killing of a CDMX police commander in Chalco.
