Overview
- SMN/Conagua reports the Mexican monsoon interacting with a mid‑level cyclonic circulation and Tropical Wave No. 31 is triggering very strong to intense rainfall across Pacific and southern states, including Sinaloa, Nayarit, Jalisco, Colima, Michoacán, Oaxaca and Chiapas.
- A stationary Front No. 2 over the northeast is forecast to produce very strong rains in Tamaulipas and San Luis Potosí, strong rains in Nuevo León and wind gusts of 30–50 km/h in affected areas.
- Guadalajara’s rain chances rise to 50–80% between 15:00 and 20:00 with electrical activity and possible hail, as Jalisco faces 50–75 mm downpours and brief gusts up to about 45 km/h.
- National outlooks for Sept. 10–12 warn of hazards such as lightning, localized hail, rapid river and stream rises, landslides and urban flooding, along with coastal wave increases on Oaxaca–Chiapas midweek and Jalisco–Colima–Michoacán by Friday.
- Concurrent alerts include Argentina’s SMN upgrading parts of the Andes from yellow to orange for stronger wind, rain and snow, and Spain’s AEMET flagging fog, high humidity and light persistent rain across several Galician municipalities.
