Mexico Banks Will Close Branches on Dec. 12, With Digital Services Available

The closure honors Bank Employee Day set in the CNBV’s official 2025 calendar.

Overview

  • The CNBV confirms Dec. 12 as a non-working day for regulated financial institutions, so in-branch teller and executive services will be suspended nationwide.
  • The date is unrelated to the religious celebration of the Virgin of Guadalupe and is observed for the banking workforce.
  • ATMs, mobile and online banking, and correspondent banking at participating retailers will remain operational, and some mall-based branches may offer limited hours.
  • The DOF-published calendar also designates Dec. 25 as a financial-sector holiday in December.
  • Payments with deadlines on Dec. 12 can be settled on Monday, Dec. 15 without penalties under Article 18 Bis 4 of the financial services transparency law.
