Mexico Arrests 'El Viejón,' Alleged Operational Chief of La Barredora, in Jalisco Raid

  • Gustavo “N,” 32, was detained in a court-authorized search in the Senderos de Monte Verde subdivision of Tlajomulco de Zúñiga, Jalisco, after joint intelligence work.
  • Security forces seized four firearms, 116 rounds, eight magazines, doses of marijuana, crystal and cocaine, a gas grenade, nine phones and three tablets.
  • A 30-year-old woman was also detained during the operation, and both detainees were placed at the disposal of federal prosecutors.
  • Officials identify the suspect as a priority target and the operational chief of CJNG-aligned La Barredora, linking him to extortion, homicide, kidnapping, vehicle and fuel theft, drug distribution and attacks on rivals and security forces in Guanajuato.
