Mexico and Spanish Regions Lock In 2025–26 School Calendars as SEP Confirms Unchanged Secondary Hours

The updates give families clear planning guidance across start dates, holidays, daily schedules, local exceptions.

Overview

  • Mexico’s national SEP calendar is in force with 185 effective school days beginning 1 September 2025 for all schools in the National Education System.
  • SEP confirmed no changes to official secondary schedules, keeping 07:00–13:30 for morning shifts and 13:30–19:00 for afternoon shifts.
  • SEP lists three September suspensions for students: 8 September for an awareness day, 16 September for Independence Day, and 26 September for a Consejo Técnico Escolar session.
  • The Comunidad de Madrid set staggered returns between 8 and 19 September and an extended Christmas break from 20 December to 7 January, with few weekday public holidays across the year.
  • In the Valencian Community, the official calendar includes 181 school days from 8 September to 19 June, while Torrent designated 3 February plus 17–18 March as non‑lective for Fallas, and a request to add 16 March was denied.
