Overview
- The Agencia Reguladora del Transporte Ferroviario has opened bids for 15 electric trainsets—each 100 m long with capacity for over 700 passengers and maximum speed of 130 km/h—with awards due in October 2025.
- On July 30 the government launched technical studies for four future corridors: Irapuato–Guadalajara, Querétaro–San Luis Potosí, San Luis Potosí–Saltillo and Mazatlán–Los Mochis.
- Dedicated-track construction continues on the CDMX–Pachuca and CDMX–Querétaro lines, keeping mid-2027 and early-2028 service start dates on schedule.
- A second fleet tender for 47 mixed-configuration trains—shorter 300-seat and longer 600-seat units designed for up to 200 km/h—will open in August 2025.
- The broader rail program led by Sedena and the SICT is now projected to support as many as 500,000 direct and indirect jobs nationwide this year.
