- IMSS published in the DOF on February 24 that the biometric CURP will be used to identify people in specified in-person procedures once implementation begins.
- Targeted IMSS transactions include Employer Registration and Work Risk insurance (IMSS-02-001), assignment or cancellation of the Unique Employer Registry, NPIE and digital certificates (IMSS-02-042), and notices of affiliatory movements (IMSS-02-009).
- Until the biometric system is operational, valid photo identification remains accepted at IMSS counters, with the biometric CURP becoming the sole national ID only after full implementation.
- RENAPO and state civil registries are adding appointment modules for March 2026 in locations such as Mexico City, Zacatecas, Michoacán, Veracruz, Puebla, and Culiacán, though specialized equipment limits availability.
- Official guidance confirms INAPAM credentials are valid for older adults to enroll, and the biometric CURP—validated as an official ID since October 2025—fits a legal framework that envisions universal use once fully deployed.
