Overview
- The third Embraer E195-E2 touched down at AIFA on Aug. 23 and was formally presented as part of Mexicana’s fleet relaunch.
- The first commercial flight with the renewed fleet is scheduled for Monday, Aug. 25 on the AIFA–Tulum route at 10:00, with seats sold out and launch fares about 20% lower than rivals according to the airline.
- The 132-seat E195-E2 is described by the carrier as cutting fuel burn by roughly 25% per flight hour, supporting cost and sustainability goals.
- Two additional E195-E2s are slated to arrive in November and December to close 2025 with five aircraft, with seven more planned for 2026 toward a 20-jet fleet by 2027, enabling the return of current 737-800s to the Mexican Air Force.
- Mexicana says the refreshed fleet will expand domestic service to roughly 14 destinations and help provide connectivity for the 2026 World Cup.
