Mexicana Launches E195‑E2 Service With Full AIFATulum Inaugural After Third Jet Arrival

Overview

  • The third Embraer E195‑E2, tail XA‑MXC, reached AIFA over the weekend after a ferry flight from Manaus, joining XA‑MXA and XA‑MXB on the ramp.
  • The first commercial E195‑E2 flight departed AIFA at 10:00 to Tulum on August 25 with all 132 seats filled and was welcomed with a water salute on arrival.
  • Officials including Mexicana chief Leobardo Ávila and tourism secretary Josefina Rodríguez marked the inaugural as the aircraft type entered scheduled service.
  • Two additional E195‑E2 deliveries are slated for November and December 2025, with more through 2026–2027 to complete a 20‑jet order and enable the return of 737‑800 NGs to the Air Force.
  • Initial E195‑E2 operations focus on new links in the southeast such as Tulum, Campeche and Chetumal, with seats sold in the 2,229 to 4,029‑peso range and the type touted for roughly 25% lower fuel burn.
