Groom Escapes as Police Target Extortion Racket Linked to Powerful Drug Cartel

- The groom, identified as Clemente N and nicknamed 'Ratón' or 'Mouse', escaped arrest and is wanted for murder. Authorities have offered a 300,000-peso (£14,000) reward for information leading to his capture.
- The couple is believed to be part of a criminal group linked to the Familia Michoacana drug cartel, one of Mexico's most powerful drug cartels.
- The group is accused of using threats of violence to extort local chicken and egg producers, charging wholesalers two pesos (9p) per kilo of chicken sold and retailers five pesos (23p).
- Seven other people, including municipal police officers, were also arrested on charges including extortion and kidnapping during the police operation.
