Overview
- Banks must have the MTU option live in mobile and online banking by October 1, and clients are being urged to set their own limits before September 30.
- If no limit is configured, an automatic default of 1,500 UDIS—about 12,500 to 12,800 pesos at current values—will apply but can be changed instantly at no cost.
- The cap governs electronic movements such as SPEI, CoDi, Dimo, app transfers and some payments to third parties, and does not affect branch transactions or physical card purchases.
- Transfers that exceed the set cap may be blocked or held until the account holder raises the limit or confirms the operation, which can also delay incoming deposits above the threshold.
- The requirement applies to traditional banks, while many fintechs and sofipos are not yet obliged under the transitory regime; full operational enforcement and possible bank-assigned limits based on history begin January 1, 2026.
