Overview

  • In his first rehab start Saturday for Double-A Binghamton against Hartford, Senga yielded four runs (three earned) on six hits and two walks over 3⅔ innings, striking out four and throwing 68 pitches (44 strikes).
  • The outing marked his first appearance since straining his right hamstring covering first base on June 12 and landing on the injured list.
  • Prior to the injury, Senga was 7–3 with a 1.47 ERA in 13 starts and the Mets’ rotation fell to a 3–14 record during his absence.
  • Team officials are debating whether to send him out for a second minor-league tune-up or activate him next weekend in Kansas City as a starter or bullpen option.
  • The final decision will also factor in the return of left-hander Sean Manaea from oblique and elbow rehab and the club’s bullpen depth ahead of the break.
