Mets' Ronny Mauricio Out for 2024 Season Following Knee Surgery

The 22-year-old infield prospect, who debuted last September, was expected to compete for regular playing time in the upcoming season.

Mets' infield prospect Ronny Mauricio underwent surgery to repair a torn right ACL, likely sidelining him for most or all of the 2024 season.
Mauricio sustained the injury while playing for Tigres del Licey in the Dominican Winter League in December.
The 22-year-old made his major league debut in September and was expected to compete for regular playing time at second base, third base or both in the upcoming season.
With Mauricio sidelined, the Mets may look to external options or rely on fellow youngsters Brett Baty and Mark Vientos to compete for the third base job.
The team also has the option to play versatile Jeff McNeil at second, which would open room in the outfield.
