Mets GM Billy Eppler resigns days after hiring of new baseball ops president

Billy Eppler resigned as Mets GM shortly after David Stearns was hired as president of baseball operations.
Eppler stepped down to give Stearns full control and a "clean slate."
Mets owner Steve Cohen accepted Eppler's resignation and thanked him for his service.
The Mets had a disappointing 2023 season after making the playoffs in 2022 under Eppler.
Stearns will now hire a new GM and manager as the Mets overhaul their baseball operations.
