Metrovalencia Reopens to Bicycles on Oct. 1 Under New Rules

The decision follows repairs to the network after last year’s flooding.

Overview

  • FGV’s board approved the policy on Sept. 23, with the rules taking effect across Metrovalencia on Oct. 1.
  • Folding bicycles are permitted across the entire metro and tram network without a numerical limit and must remain folded in stations and on board.
  • Non-folding bicycles, including e-bikes, are allowed only on surface metro sections with a maximum of four per train unit, positioned in the last car with riders standing by them.
  • Conventional bikes are not permitted in underground sections or on tram lines, requiring riders with non-folding bikes to exit at the last surface stop.
  • Electric scooters remain prohibited except mobility devices for PMR users, and staff may tighten limits or bar bikes during crowded periods such as Fallas.
