Metroline Bus Strike to Proceed Tuesday to Thursday as Stagecoach and First Pause Action

Stagecoach and First drivers are balloting revised pay deals following weekend talks.

Overview

  • About 1,000 Metroline workers at the Sharston, Hyde Road, Ashton and Wythenshawe depots will walk out from September 30 to October 2 after negotiations collapsed.
  • Strikes at Stagecoach and First Bus Rochdale are suspended this week, meaning most Bee Network services are expected to operate.
  • TfGM warns the greatest disruption is likely on Metroline routes in south Manchester, Tameside and Trafford, with a mixed level of service in Stockport.
  • Stagecoach says its proposal would lift pay by nearly 9% by April 2026, Metroline says it has offered an 8.8% rise over two years, and First has submitted a revised offer for a member vote.
  • Further coordinated walkouts in October are still scheduled and could go ahead depending on ballot outcomes and any new agreements.
