Metrobús Begins December Station Closures in Mexico City as Lima Metro Sets Dec. 6 Line 2 Shutdown

The closures enable safety and accessibility upgrades that require empty platforms.

Overview

  • Mexico City’s Metrobús confirmed Line 5 closures from Dec. 1–5 toward Preparatoria 1, with 10 stations shutting in a staggered schedule posted on its official X account.
  • A phased program on Line 1 will shut 19 stations for two days each through mid-December, including Nápoles (Dec. 1–2) and José María Velasco and La Joya (Dec. 5–6).
  • Authorities say the works require empty platforms to install tactile floor guidance for riders with visual disabilities and to meet safety and quality standards.
  • Riders are urged to monitor Metrobús’ official channels for real-time updates and to plan alternate routes during station outages.
  • In Lima, Line 2 Etapa 1A will suspend all service on Saturday, Dec. 6 from 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. for maintenance, with normal operations resuming Sunday across its five-station, 5 km segment.
