Metro Buses to Replace Select DC Circulator Routes

The transition follows financial struggles and low ridership, with only the most popular routes being retained by Metro.

Metro buses will replace the popular Union Station to Georgetown route and others as the DC Circulator is phased out.
Routes like the National Mall and Woodley Park will not be replaced due to insufficient ridership.
Changes include extending the 31 and 33 bus routes to Union Station and quicker loops along 14th Street NW.
Metro's new 24-hour bus service will cost the city an extra $11 million per year.
The city is working to help Circulator employees find new jobs with WMATA and other bus companies.
