Overview

  • The Meteo-Dron, a reusable drone-based meteorological station, is now fully developed and tested for operational use.
  • Designed by Climatoc-Lab in collaboration with Universitat de València, CSIC, and Generalitat Valenciana, the drone addresses gaps in traditional weather data collection methods.
  • Capable of ascending to 7 km, the drone provides real-time, high-resolution atmospheric data to enhance extreme weather prediction models.
  • Daily atmospheric sampling campaigns in the Comunitat Valenciana are being prepared, pending final flight permissions.
  • The project aims to improve forecasting for events like the October DANA flood, which highlighted the need for more precise and frequent weather data.
