Overview

  • The inaugural issue, titled “Old Dreams, New Visions,” debuts with 272 pages of new contributions alongside archival works from the original 1975–87 French run.
  • Contributors include international talents such as Peach Momoko and Enki Bilal as well as archival pieces by Moebius and other founding artists.
  • A late-2024 Kickstarter campaign secured over $750,000 from more than 5,000 backers to fund the English-language quarterly.
  • Originally founded in 1975 by Jean Giraud (Moebius), Philippe Druillet, Jean-Pierre Dionnet and Bernard Farkas, Metal Hurlant helped shape the sci-fi look of films like Blade Runner and Alien.
  • The relaunch is overseen by Humanoids, which retains full control of original content and sets this anthology apart from the Heavy Metal franchise.
