Overview
- Users will be notified on October 7, the change takes effect on December 16, and there is no opt-out for people who use Meta AI.
- Voice and text exchanges with Meta AI will be added to existing signals to shape posts, Reels, groups and advertising across Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and Messenger.
- Cross-app use via Accounts Center means a chat in one service can influence recommendations in another, and the treatment of encrypted conversations does not change.
- The rollout begins in most regions but excludes the European Union, the United Kingdom and South Korea at launch.
- Meta says conversations about sensitive topics will not be used for ads and it has no plans to place ads inside chat, as Meta AI usage exceeds 1 billion monthly users.
