Overview

  • Meta is publicly demonstrating Tiramisu and Boba 3 at SIGGRAPH 2025 as exploratory prototypes rather than consumer products.
  • Tiramisu uses micro-OLED displays to deliver 90 pixels per degree, up to 1,400 nits brightness and three times the contrast of Quest 3 at a 33°×33° field of view.
  • Boba 3 stretches visuals across a 180°×120° field of view with 4K×4K resolution per eye, enabled by pancake lenses and high-curvature reflective polarizers.
  • Both designs form part of Reality Labs’ pursuit of a “visual Turing test” intended to make virtual imagery indistinguishable from reality.
  • Insights from these advances will inform future headset designs following Quest 3, though mass-market availability remains unconfirmed.
