Meta Unveils Muse Charm, Palm-Sized Device for Its Muse AI

Overview

• Meta revealed the Muse Charm at its Connect conference on Wednesday as a pocket-sized device built to run the Muse agent and will go on sale in December.
• The Charm features a roughly 2-inch OLED touch screen, integrated 5G modem, front and rear cameras for visual input, biometric unlock, speaker and microphone, and it cannot make voice or video calls.
• Meta says the device will pair with the Muse app on phones for setup and data sync and will link Muse to retailers and payment systems through announced partnerships with Walmart, Best Buy, Gap, Shopify, Stripe and others.
• The Charm was developed in about nine months by a new Meta design lab led by ex-Apple designer Alan Dye and other hires, and Meta frames the gadget as a design-forward, early-generation product for Muse fans rather than its primary hardware focus.
• The Muse app has drawn millions of downloads and lifted Meta’s market value, but analysts note past small AI gadgets have had mixed results so the Charm may remain a niche product unless it offers clear advantages over phones, watches or smart glasses.
