Meta to Build $1 Billion AI Data Center in Beaver Dam, Its 30th Worldwide

Officials project a 2027 opening with environmental and grid commitments attached.

Overview

  • Meta said the 700,000-square-foot campus will support more than 1,000 construction jobs and about 100 permanent roles.
  • The company will underwrite nearly $200 million in energy infrastructure, including network upgrades, substations and transmission lines.
  • Meta pledged dry-cooling with no operational cooling water demand, to match electricity use with 100% renewable energy and to restore all water consumed to local watersheds.
  • A partnership with Ducks Unlimited will restore 570 acres of wetlands and prairie, with roughly 175 acres to be deeded to the conservation group.
  • State and local deals include a sales-tax exemption, a tax increment district and city-issued developer-funded bonds up to $110 million, as some residents protested over transparency and environmental concerns.
