Overview
- Facebook Content Protection uses Rights Manager matching to alert creators when their original Reels are reposted on Facebook or Instagram.
- Matches are detected only if the original Reel was posted to Facebook or shared via Instagram’s Share to Facebook option.
- Creators can choose to track with attribution and view metrics, block visibility across both platforms, or release the claim.
- Blocking reduces a copied Reel’s distribution without penalizing the posting account, with safeguards that include allow lists, default tracking, dispute and IP reporting routes, and penalties for false claims.
- The feature is mobile-only at launch with desktop integration in testing, and availability is expanding to creators in Meta’s Content Monetization program and to Rights Manager users, with others able to apply.
