Overview
- At its Connect keynote on Wednesday, Sept. 23, Meta unveiled Muse as the centerpiece of its AI strategy and demonstrated live integrations that let the agent act on users’ behalf.
- Meta announced several devices that will run Muse: camera‑free Ray‑Ban Meta Audio (preorders open, ships Oct. 13), a Muse Charm keychain gadget due to ship this December with no price announced, and Meta VR Glasses that use a separate tethered puck and will start at about $1,299 in spring 2027.
- The Meta VR Glasses use a two‑part design where the lightweight frames house displays and sensors while an external puck contains the processor, battery and storage and connects via an optical tether.
- Meta disclosed retail connectors with Walmart, Best Buy, Gap and Sephora to let Muse complete purchases but at least one major seller, Amazon, has blocked the agent from finishing purchases on its site.
- Privacy and regulatory questions remain because the glasses rely on always‑listening microphones that capture bystander audio, and Meta has said it will roll out technical protections such as private processing but has not yet delivered them.
