  • Meta and the Alabama Department of Commerce announced the expanded commitment during a closed construction tour on Sept. 23.
  • The next-generation facility is designed for artificial intelligence workloads and is planned to span more than 1.3 million square feet.
  • Peak construction employment is estimated at roughly 1,500 skilled trade workers, with ongoing operations expected to support just over 100 jobs.
  • The site sits across from Hyundai’s Montgomery assembly plant, and state and local leaders say the project strengthens the region’s technology and manufacturing ecosystem.
  • The increase follows an initial $800 million plan unveiled in 2024 and, together with Meta’s Huntsville campus, pushes the company’s Alabama investment to around $3 billion.
