Overview
- Meta launched Muse in the U.S. on Tuesday, Sept. 8, offering access via muse.ai, a standalone iOS and Android app, and WhatsApp with support for Meta’s AI glasses promised soon.
- Each Muse agent runs inside a dedicated Muse Secure VM that holds user data and an internal Sentinel monitor that reviews network actions before they leave the VM.
- Muse, powered by Meta’s Muse Spark model, can open web pages, fill forms, send emails, book travel, and make purchases using Link by Stripe; Meta plans free use with paid tiers for heavier usage.
- Users can grant or revoke per‑service permissions, opt out of having interactions used to train Meta’s models, ask Muse to forget items, and expect a Confidential VM encrypted with a user-held key later this year.
- Adoption will hinge on trust because Muse needs deep access to email, calendars, payments and other accounts, and observers say independent technical and regulatory scrutiny is needed given Meta’s recent multistate settlement and past privacy enforcement actions.
