Overview
- Met detectives have submitted a full evidential file to the Crown Prosecution Service about one suspect, a man in his 80s, relating to two alleged indecent assaults in London.
- The CPS will now decide whether to charge but has given no timescale for a decision.
- The submission forms part of Operation Cornpoppy, the Met investigation opened in November 2024 that covers more than 400 allegations dated between 1977 and 2014.
- Police say at least 156 alleged victims have contacted them directly and seven people have been interviewed under caution on suspicions including aiding and abetting rape, sexual assault and human trafficking.
- Survivor groups have urged the Met to secure financial and documentary records to establish how victims were recruited and silenced, and investigators say the inquiry remains complex and ongoing.
