Overview
- The Metropolitan Police imposed Public Order Act conditions on Oct. 9 to stop pro-Palestinian groups assembling around Whitehall and near Great Portland Street and Portland Place due to a nearby synagogue.
- Two pro-Palestinian protesters were arrested for breaching those conditions as a Campaign Against Antisemitism rally of about 2,000 people outside Downing Street dispersed largely without incident.
- Officers were deployed to safeguard attendees and the force warned that anyone breaching or encouraging breaches of the conditions could be arrested.
- For Saturday, Oct. 11, the Met set a designated form-up at Victoria Embankment, a fixed route over Westminster Bridge via Waterloo Bridge and the Strand to Whitehall, and an assembly that must end by 17:30.
- A counter-protest by Stop The Hate is confined to the Aldwych–Strand junction, and the Met noted that proposed legal changes are pending while current law remains in force.
