Met Police Renew Appeal Over June Islington Hate-Crime Assault on Two Women

Detectives say CCTV reviews have not identified the attacker, prompting a call for witnesses.

  • Officers issued a fresh witness appeal on October 22 over an assault at about 3:30am on June 22 on Holloway Road at the junction with Madras Place in Islington.
  • Police are treating the case as a hate crime, saying the women were targeted due to their sexuality.
  • Both victims, in their 20s, were taken to hospital with bruising and one suffered cuts to her head after falling during the attack.
  • The suspect left before officers arrived and is described as a Black man in his late 20s to early 30s, about 5ft 7ins, with shoulder-length braids, wearing white shorts and a black top.
