Police highlight retailer collaboration using CCTV to identify a prolific offender.

Overview

  • Body-worn video released on October 13 shows officers arresting Daniel Cleveland at his Bromley home on April 30.
  • Cleveland, 33, pleaded guilty to nine thefts and three attempted thefts at Lewes Crown Court on August 19 and received a three-year sentence on September 25.
  • The 11 offences targeted B&Q stores across London and the South East between February 2024 and March 2025, with losses estimated at about £16,000.
  • Police say Cleveland worked with an unidentified accomplice who threw items over garden-centre fences and loaded them into a getaway vehicle with false plates.
  • The Met says neighbourhood crime is down 15.5% this year with a 92% increase in shoplifting cases solved, as enquiries continue to find the second suspect and recover the stolen goods.
