Met Police Probe Alleged Drink-Spiking and Sexual Assault at London Pub Involving English Cricket Figure

Police interviewed a man in his 40s under caution in June with no arrest to date.

  • The individual, described in reports as a prominent figure in English cricket, was interviewed under caution on 5 June and has not been named in line with UK reporting practice.
  • The Guardian reports the alleged spiking took place at The Boundary in Chelsea, a cricket-themed pub co-owned by Brendon McCullum, Jos Buttler and other sports figures, none of whom were present.
  • The ECB has been made aware and declined to comment, as the case draws attention to recent safeguarding actions including nine- and six-month suspensions for coaches over sexual misconduct.
